The supply chain of fish canneries largely overlaps with the tuna supply chain in terms of the fishery inputs it uses, the fishing fleet which can be found here. With regard to the supply of sardines, mackerel and mackerel like species to the canneries little information is known. In general these fish species are caught predominantly by using purse seine capture methods. Purse seiners targeting small pelagic fish are mostly small in size (15-30 GT) and operate primarily in the Java Sea, South China Sea, Malacca Strait and Mollucas Sea. Catches are landed at the variety of fishing ports available in Indonesia, but whether there are main landing sites for these species is unknown.
