Once a processing plant has completed an order and the relevant paperwork at the Bureau of Fishery and Aquaculture Resources has been obtained, like health certificates etc., all items are loaded into a reefer container. In most cases 40 feet reefers are used which are then picked up by a truck owned by the shipping agent or processing plant. The reefer is then transported to one of the country’s main harbours that is in the closest vicinity of the processing plant (Manila, Batangas, General Santos/Davao or Cebu). In the harbour the reefer will be loaded onto a container vessel that will ship the product to its final destination. Finally, the buyer will pick up the container at the port of arrival.
